Insect theme party: Stavros is 5!

For a bug-loving birthday boy, only an insect theme party will do! My sweet friend Brenda threw this party for her 5-year-old son, Stavros, using the insect theme from my shop, plus a whole lot of creative ideas of her own.

The color palette for the party included shades of lime green, blue, and orange. At the entrance to the house, Brenda made decorations for the front door that were perfect for the theme, using a grass mat, bug catcher, and framed welcome sign.

Brenda also made a bumblebee with Stavros’ age on it. How cute are those googly eyes! : )

In addition to the cake, cupcakes, and candy, the party table also had a framed invitation, a book about bugs, and a special photo of the birthday boy on display.

The “happy birthday” banner was a printable, the backdrop was made from leaf streamers from Amazon, and the tassel garland was homemade.

The candy buckets were decorated with personalized stickers. The bug marshmallow kebabs were purchased locally.

I love how the cupcakes are displayed on wood slices!

The chocolate bars did double duty as party food and as favors.

The kids’ table was set with orange chevron tablecloths, faux grass placemats, lanterns from IKEA, and bright tableware. Mini tassel garlands were hung across the back of each chair.

The drink bottles (filled with blue punch) were labeled with custom water labels.

Brenda provided bug costumes for the kids to wear and they had a blast dressing up and taking photos in front of a large, homemade backdrop. Even the parents joined in the fun!

The kids also painted bug figurines (purchased locally in China) and did paper plate crafts.

Time for cake, which was homemade with love! You can tell Stavros is loving every minute!

The kids took home a variety of bug themed party favors, including small books, bug catching nets, and bug catching boxes. The favors were labeled with stickers and favor tags.
