My sweet customer Shannon sent me these pictures from her son Drew's second birthday party!…
If your birthday boy or girl is all about trains, you’ll love this party – crafty mama Carrie made the most wonderful train cake for her son, Quade!
The theme for the day? “Choo choo, Quade is two.” The color scheme is a bright and happy combination of red, aqua and yellow, and Quade is dressed like a train engineer in blue striped engineer overalls by Osh Kosh.
The train cake – unbelievable, right?! Carrie made 22 individual cars decorated with candy and placed them on a black licorice track in the shape of a number 2. Every car is different, and the the finished cake is over 5 feet long!
The rock candy “smokestack” on the locomotive is too perfect!
Carrie says, “The kids went absolutely BONKERS for this cake. We told the kids they had to wear hats to get a train car cake and they all RAN to put on hats, then sang Happy Birthday at the top of their lungs. The entire time they were fixed on the car they wanted. Much to our relief, each kid wanted a different car!”
“For many of the kids, it was their first time eating candy & cake. I have NEVER seen kids so excited about a cake. Seriously.”
Carrie says the cake took her only 3 hours to make, and it was well worth the time spent!
Carrie has some extra advice for party planners: “I paid a professional photographer to take photos for the day. If you book ahead of time, you can get a great rate and i paid $100 for 1.5 hours and all of the images on a disk. Well worth it, and my family could enjoy the party instead of worrying about documenting it.”
Thanks so much for sharing, Carrie! Happy birthday to Quade!
