Mickey Mouse birthday party

Character-based birthday parties can be tricky if you don’t want to go with ultra-bright colors and store-bought decor. This sophisticated, monochromatic Mickey Mouse party is such a great example of how you can be true to a theme but think outside of the box! Emily of A Silver Nutmeg, an event styling and party-planning boutique based in Washington, D.C., styled this gorgeous party for her 3-year-old nephew. There are so many sweet details, all of which were created by hand.

Emily made the backdrop out of newspaper – which is budget-friendly and beautiful! You can learn how to make paper rosettes here.

These Mickey Mouse cake pops are just precious.

The Mickey Mouse cake topper is made from black fondant.

Frappuccino bottles are the cutest thing for serving milk. I love the black and white striped paper straws too!

Simple and classic: black Mickey Mouse silhouette cupcake toppers sit atop chocolate cupcakes with white icing.

Mickey silhouettes also appear on the tiny kraft paper treat bags.

Emily made rosettes from book pages, then added Mickey Mouse silhouettes to spell out Jackson’s name.

Rice Krispie Mickeys! You could coat them entirely in chocolate, but I think they’re even cuter just half-dipped (plus, then you know what you’re biting into). ; )

Absolutely lovely! Thank you for sharing, Emily!
