I’m always a little in awe of the people who not only throw a party, but photograph it beautifully, too! Somehow, crafty mama and photographer Susie of Susie Linquist Photography did just that for her son Jack’s first birthday.

Jack’s birthday featured an Under the Sea theme, and the decor is simple and sweet. : )

How’s this for healthy! Susie made gluten, dairy, and sugar-free carrot cake cupcakes for Jack and his guests to enjoy, then decorated them with printable cupcake wrappers and toppers.

The kids had peanut butter and jellyfish sandwiches, and the grownups enjoyed cucumber and mayo sandwiches. Each dish was labeled with printable buffet cards.

The snack dishes are actually beach toys – how clever is that?! Susie says, “I was looking for some centerpieces for the tables at Bed, Bath and Beyond and I found a bunch of beach toys that were perfect to fill with snacks and put out on the tables. Best part is we get to reuse all this stuff at the beach! Yay for cute decor and being green!”

Each little guest had their choice of brightly colored buckets filled with bubbles, twisty straws and other beach-themed toys.

Jack is wearing a crown that was homemade by his aunt, Erin, while happily chowing down on his special sugar-free smash cake.

Thank you so much for sharing, Susie! Happy first birthday to Jack! : )
