Golf party: Lawson is 1!
Posted under Birthday Parties, golf, parties for boys, sports
For her son Lawson’s first birthday, crafty mama Melissa went all-out with a green and white golf party! Every last detail is preppy and sweet, from Lawson’s party outfits to the little chocolate golf balls in the “caddy buffet”!

There’s no mistaking what theme this party will be when there’s a golf cart parked out front! : )

Lawson’s custom made plaid outfit is the just the cutest thing.

It can be challenging to create a pretty buffet area on an open countertop, and Melissa did an awesome job! To give the display a “backdrop” she added paper rosettes from Factory Direct Party.

I asked Melissa how she made such a perfect balloon arch, and she said “I ended up hiring someone. I looked into making them myself and even watched videos on how to do it. It didn’t look hard, but was worried it would take me forever and I didn’t want to be worrying with it the morning of the party. You can go on YouTube, look up making balloon arches and check it out though!”

Jars of green candy are displayed on boxes covered with green paper (to add height to the display).

A golf party must-have – doughnut hole in ones! The printable buffet cards are from my shop.

The tiny golf ball chocolates are so cute! They’re from Oriental Trading.

The golf tees are a nice touch in the “club sandwiches,” plus they’ll hold the subs together as you cut them apart. (Smart!)

Personalized golf water labels are on ice in “the watering hole.”

Melissa made centerpieces using potted grass and small flags, and the table confetti includes tiny punched-out photos of Lawson. The white and dark chocolate golf ball pops were handmade by Melissa’s mother-in-law.

Lawson’s adorable “I am 1” banner (all of the other banners from his party) were handmade by Make ‘n Take on Etsy.

I love this idea – a time capsule! Melissa displayed photos from each month and milestone of Lawson’s life, and guests wrote messages to Lawson in a specially-made album. The time capsule is to be opened on Lawson’s 18th birthday.

The time capsule message reads:
We have gathered to celebrate in the birthday fun
Lawson is now turning one!
It will be exciting to watch our “little man” grow
With the support of the family and friends that he knows.
Please leave some words of wisdom for Lawson to read one day
When he is not quite a man, but well on the way.
Lawson will certainly cherish your thoughts and advice
And seeing them 17 years later will surely be nice!

This is a new idea, to me – Lawson’s cake was displayed on a pedestal lined with grass! The cake is by Old Towne Bakery of Olive Branch, MS.

Guests took candy to go in green striped bags from Layer Cake Shop. The stickers on the bags are from my shop.

The lucky kids at the party each went home with a toy golfing set, complete with a personalized favor tag!

Thanks so much for sharing, Melissa! Happy birthday to Lawson! : )
