Mom Melanie sent me some lovely photos from her daughter Kamila's cherry theme first birthday…
Today’s featured birthday party is a pink, white and gold glitter dress-up theme party for 2-year-old Kalia. Kalia’s crafty mom, Lauren, came up with some really creative DIY projects to make the party special, including crepe paper lanterns, glitter hangers, and chalkboard photo booth props. You’ll love all the little details! (And, hint – I’ll be linking to lots of tutorials!)

Kalia’s dresser was moved from her bedroom to the living room and used as the cake and favor table. Above the dresser, DIY glitter hangers held pictures of Kalia from throughout the year. DIY crepe paper lanterns were hung from the ceiling, and crepe paper and ribbons were tucked into the dresser drawers (which is charmingly casual and hints to the dress-up theme).

Next to the dessert table, a large thrifted mirror was propped against the wall so kids could see themselves in their dress-up outfits. There’s also a DIY changing tent (a repurposed no-sew tablecloth that was hung up) and a trunk full of dress-up clothes.

Laurel says, “Hanging streamers, gold glitter tape and pom pom strings were an easy way to add some depth and texture to the dresser.”

The dresser trunk is an antique steamer trunk, turned on its side. Inside there were lots of dress-up goodies for people to grab and take pictures in front of the confetti wall.

Laurel set up a festive table to hold Kalia’s presents. The pom pom tablecloth was DIY, and so were the giant “wall confetti.” The giant balloon is from The TomKat Studio.

Once they got decked out in dress-up clothes, guests could take pictures in front of the festive confetti wall, using DIY chalkboard bubble photo props.

The favors were homemade bubbles in DIY themed jars, and wands were held in DIY glitter animals. (Adorable!)
Thank you so much for sharing, Laurel! Happy birthday to Kalia! : )
