Today I’m sharing these free printable “Honor Our Armed Forces” cards! I know it’s only April – it’s not yet Memorial Day, Veteran’s Day or the 4th of July, which is when I’d usually be sharing patriotic printables – but once I thought of this idea, I just couldn’t wait. And besides, every day is a good day to show our appreciation to the men and women who serve our country.
The other week I was inspired by my friend Marjorie. We were at a restaurant, seated near a table of four men in uniform. Marjorie found their waitress and anonymously paid a portion of their bill. It was such a generous thing to do and I’m sure the men were really touched by the gesture, even though they had no idea who had done it. Thinking about anonymous acts of kindness, I wondered, what about making small cards – like business cards, almost – that you could anonymously give to service members or their families? For example, think of how often you see a car with a military bumper sticker, or one that says something like “my son/daughter serves in the Army.” What if every time you were parked next to a car like that, you slipped one of these cards into the door?
So, I designed a set of cards with a variety of sayings and designs. You can print all 8 on just a single sheet of paper. They’re small enough to fit in a wallet, so you can always have them on-hand!
The cards can be left anonymously or given face-to-face depending on the situation. A card alone is sure to be a welcome surprise, but if you go above and beyond – such as picking up a service member’s tab in a restaurant – they can come in handy then, too.
I’ve already printed out several sets of these cards and have them in my wallet – I can’t wait to find chances to use them! I hope you like and are able to use these cards too.
