Tractors, farm animals, a hayride, and wide open spaces – this John Deere party has it all! Crafty mama Abbie threw a joint birthday party for her sons Carter (5) and Copeland (2) and gave it loads of green-and-yellow charm. As my Dad, a John Deere fan, said when he saw these pics – “now THAT’S a birthday party!” : )
To decorate, Abbie found John Deere goodies at local stores and Hobby Lobby, and online at Amazon.com and the Green Fun Store.
The printable cupcake wrappers and toppers are from Chickabug. Abbie cut extra-large green and yellow circles to add even more color to the toppers.
Water bottles (with personalized waterproof labels) are especially charming in a metal bucket.
A toy tractor and balloons are a perfect centerpiece – casual and sweet.
Lunch included Chick-fil-A nuggets, fruit salad, chips, pretzels, and of course candy! Abbie was lucky enough to find green Reese’s Cups, and she also had yellow and green Sour Patch Kids, sixlets, gumballs, sour straws, Mike & Ike’s, and Jolly Ranchers. The finishing touch were custom M&M’s made with the boys’ photos and names on them.
The metal John Deere sign came from Amazon.com, and Abbie made the tablecloth and basket liners from fabric she found at a local store.
I adore the centerpieces that Abbie made! She started with metal John Deere buckets filled with florist’s foam, then added bunches of faux sunflowers from Hobby Lobby, green and yellow bandannas, and balloons. Abbie says, “I used small pieces of dowel rod to poke the hankies down in the foam and to keep them standing up.”
Each of the boys had a designated area for their own gifts, marked with custom printable signs from Chickabug.
All of the party guests – even the dog! – went for a hayride around the farm.
A large picnic blanket holds baskets full of party favors, and also the cutest John Deere barn (found on Amazon).
Favor bags included John Deere plastic cups, John Deere popcorn bags, and small plastic farm animals. Even the babies got a special treat with John Deere sippy cups! The bags were wrapped up with green and yellow raffia from Michael’s and a printable favor tag.
Thank you so much for sharing, Abbie! Happy birthday to Copeland and Carter! : )
