Orange theme baby shower for a “little cutie”

Sometimes the very best ideas start with a very blank slate! That’s definitely the case for this gorgeous baby shower that was dreamed up by my party-plannin’ pal Ashley at Attention 2 Detail Events. Presented with the challenge of planning a gender-neutral but still bright and unique baby shower, Ashley found her inspiration in a most unusual place – the produce aisle at the grocery store!

“I remember seeing the Cutie logo and then it just hit me – a “Little Cutie” baby shower,” Ashley said. “I fell in love at that moment and the ideas just started flowing!”

Ashley and I worked together to come up with the perfect orange theme invitation – a little modern, a little country, and definitely sweet! Ashley weaved a green and orange ribbon through the top of each card to give them an extra-special touch, and she  bought lime green envelopes to match. She says, “I wanted the event to have a ‘fresh from the orchard’ feeling.”

The juice bar was topped with astro turf from a home improvement store, and guests were served virgin “Tangeritas” and ice water.

To create the Cutie letters, Ashley says “I used chipboard letters from the local craft store, spray painted them green, and then covered them in orange scrapbook paper. I used a different shade of orange for each letter. Then I cut little blossoms out of white paper and glued them on the letters, finishing them off with little orange button centers and green leaves.”

Each margarita glass stem features a little “Organic” tag from Bake It Pretty.

Ice cubes were dressed up with frozen Cutie slices and orange zest.

Cuties marked each place setting at the table – the leaves had guests’ names printed on them. For the main centerpiece, Ashley adorned tree branches with leaf cutouts, green polka dot ribbon, and hanging Cuties, to create a miniature orange tree!

The menu included orange ginger chicken, Cutie salad with honey citrus dressing, and Cutie kebabs with mint yogurt dip.

The dessert table was set up to resemble an old-fashioned fruit stand, using Cutie boxes as part of the display. (Adorable!)

The orange cake pops were from Heavenly Cake Pops, and I designed the “fresh squeezed” tags (though I can’t take credit for the clever idea – it was all Ashley). : )

The homemade cupcakes with orange buttercream were topped off with edible sugar leaves from Sugar Robot.

Guests took home little fruit baskets filled with orange sugar cookies from The Cookie Jar.

Just beautiful – one of my favorite baby showers ever! Thank you so much for all your amazing work, Ashley!
