Today’s party feature is all about the FOOD! First up – the cake. Jack’s mom, Jennifer, asked her baker to make a cake in a particular style, but using my safari invitation as inspiration:

Shannon of Paris Bakery did an amazing job – I love the vines, and the tiny tails on the elephant and lion! : ) Jennifer says the cake was “as delicious as it was adorable.”

And the smash cake? SUPER CUTE!! The details on the little lion are just so dear!

Jennifer kept the theme going with the rest of the party food – and I think this just has to be seen to be believed. It is an EIGHT FOOT SUBMARINE SANDWICH SNAKE. One cannot make these things up! : )

Jennifer said she ordered four 2-foot subs from her local Jimmy John’s, and upon hearing her plans to make a giant snake, the store was kind enough to offer to “curve the bread” before baking it so that the snake would be more realistic. How cool is that!

Then how about this guy!! He really cracks me up – a fruit monkey! He’s decorating a half-watermelon filled with fruit salad.

Here’s birthday boy Jack, wearing a custom t-shirt from If only he were old enough to really realize how silly a sub snake and fruit monkey are! ; )

Thanks so much for sharing, Jennifer! Happy birthday Jack!

Seriously, if Jimmy Johns gets inundated with requests for sandwich snakes now, I'm going to laugh for a week! ; )

Hi April! Jack's mom, Jennifer, made that herself. I couldn't find a tutorial to link to but all you need is a cantaloupe (skull), two oranges (ears, mouth and crown), two slices of kiwi (eyes), two blueberries (pupils) and a cherry (nose). It looks pretty easy to assemble! : )
